Best way to use Gill Sans as body text

Gill Sans is the body text font in the branding guidelines I working with.

Is it safe to assume that Gill Sans has a large enough install base or should I look for a font replacement option?

The business seems to think that it is a standard font on PC but every set of stats I find seem to indicate that it is on 60% or less PC's. Although some sites seem to think it is  a websafe font.

  • We used Gill Sans on a site for the same reasons and FontSquirreled it. However, the font looked utterly appalling on Chrome / Firefox on XP, so we eventually substituted it for a Google Font lookalike (Carme) and they are happy.

  • Thanks. I did not feel comfortable just assuming people would have Gill Sans installed. The Google Font lookalike seems like the best idea.
