Responsive grid in CMS
-
Hello all!
I am "converting" a web site to be responsive and I am using a ready made responsive grid (cssgrid.net). I am working in a CMS which is great and very flexible. But, the CMS generates the content in tables which makes the responsive design harder to manage. Are there anyone out there who knows and have been through this and maybe have some good advices?
Thank you in advance!
Johanna

Yep! Ditch the CMS. No, seriously. If they're outputting data in tables then it's a CMS that hasn't been properly updated for near on a decade. That's 10 years without catching up to the latest and greatest in web development. My bet is the system is out of date in loads of other ways, not just how it generates content.Might I suggest:- Wordpress- Symphony CMS- Expression Engine- Rock your own with Ruby on Rails

Thank you Doug_S!
But what a boring answer :-)
Actually, the CMS is constantly being developed but I agree, what about all the tables. I am running an web-shop so ditching the CMS is not an option (right now). What I need is a great CSS-line which convert all tables into divs :-) While the CMS is quite flexible and "open", there are a lot possibilities to create and design I want to belive there are solutions to get around the "table-problem". I might be wrong... but I will give it some more time...

I'd just like to add that the new default theme in WordPress, TwentyEleven, is totally 'responsive', adjusting beautifully all screen widths. I've just used it as the basis for a custom design, which went really well. Will post link to it shortly.I can't figure out why more people aren't raving about this ... ;-)

I had heard about it but not seen it in action. The fact that WordPress are leading the charge in this fashion says a lot to me.

I wish I could use Wordpress! Well well, back to work... tables tables tables.
