Wordpress Books

I've been tasked on training our junior front end developer in building wordpress sites. I've used wordpress from it's early days, so have kind of learnt as I've gone along, and picked it all up online. But the codex and amount of tutorials are now huge - too huge for me to pinpoint any specific site (except of course trawling thru the codex - although some of that is out of date) Anyhow, the point i'm struggling to get to is can anyone reccommend a decent Wordpress book, that covers the basics, but allows readers to dig a little bit deeper if needed?---Thanks!

    The books from Smashing Magazine did that for me. I'm not sure if they've brought out revised issues though, as Smashing WordPress was released around WordPress 2.8. That said, the WordPress eBook bundle on their site looks good too and might be worth checking.

    One of my favourite WordPress books is Digging into WordPress (digwp.com), it's just been updated to cover v3.3 and if you've bought the book already it's a free update.
