2 sites for myself and family, photography and cabin rental

Hi, I am new to this forum and am finding some great information on here. Thanks all the experts out there already! I have made a few websites that I would love to get some feedback on. The first is for my photography business, Orange County Wedding Photography, and the second is for my family's cabin rental on Priest Lake. Letting me know your thoughts on either would be great! Thanks so much!

  • About the music:
Remove it. All of it, just chuck it away. I'm serious. It's no good.

First, I could be wrong, but I don't think you've got the rights to share that music with the world. It's protected under copyright after all.
Second, it can annoy the visitor. When I work on my computer, I like to have music already playing. When I come across a website which starts to play music all of a sudden, I think what a stupid website to interupt the music I'm playing. I can't be bothered to look over the site to see if there's a way to turn it off, and I click the back button to leave the website.
  • Unless the music was legally obtained via royalty-free download you're breaking a number of laws and, should they find out, would be responsible for tens of thousand dollars in damages per unique visitor to your site

Plus, as @ondoordacht said, it's very annoying. You know what users list as the most annoying thing websites can do? Number one out of all the annoying things? Sound. If you're not a band and it's not a video they asked to play, nothing will drive your users away faster. If you are a band or do have a video, wait of them to ask for it. It'll not only save you on bandwidth but it won't annoy those people who had something going already before they hit your site.

People don't browse the web single-focused. They're listening to music, having conversations, watching a video... Never ever, ever put sound on a website. The only time it's even remotely acceptable are places where users expect to hear music or see a video and even then it's always best to have the user request playback.
  • Thanks so much for the feedback. Music is a pretty standard thing on photography websites, but I can definitely see what you are saying! I will take it off, and see if there is a way to have people click an option if they would like for music to play (that is royalty free). Does all popular music have royalties, or do some bands release the royalties?
  • I wouldn't say it's standard but I can guarantee it's loathed in every instance. That's not why people are there.
  • I like your logo!
